According to Bloomberg, privacy will be an important theme in the release of the new version of Siri by Apple at the Global Developer Conference in June, and the new version of Siri will introduce automatic removal of chat records.
It is known that apples will introduce the first independently run Siri application, driven by Google Gemini technology, to provide users with chat robotic experience similar to ChatGPT. However, the application will have more restrictions on the use and storage time of user information than other chat robots.
According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Goulman, Siri would include functions similar to “information” applications, allowing users to automatically delete the dialogue 30 days or one year later or to keep the dialogue indefinitely. Apple will also provide an option for choosing whether to keep the content of the dialogue before Siri starts or start a whole new chat.
However, the automatic deletion of chat records also has serious disadvantages. Most large-language models tend to absorb as much personal data as possible from chat sessions to enhance their ability to respond. According to Gulman, apples use a more restrictive approach to training AI, using synthetic data to generate rather than real user data.
Apple’s re-launching of Siri is widely seen as an excellent opportunity to revitalize its position in the AI field. Gülman indicated that, as part of their efforts, corporate executives would emphasize that they were more focused on privacy protection than most other AI companies.
Gülman also suggested that apples might be justifying Siri ‘ s shortcomings in relation to the competition by emphasizing privacy, which might mask the fact that Google was dealing with some of the security issues.
